East Sussex County Council Contract awarded to John O’Conner

East Sussex County Council has awarded John O’Conner (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd a contract for grounds maintenance at sites throughout the County. The Company submitted a tender for the grounds maintenance contract in July and were subsequently awarded the contract having demonstrated a comprehensive service offer and value for money against strong competition from other bidders.

The contract is for the provision of grounds maintenance services to sites in and around Hastings, Hailsham, Eastbourne, Crowborough, Bexhill and Lewes including thirteen Secondary Schools and more than one hundred Primary Schools. Central to the John O’Conner offer is the provision of high levels of quality monitoring and reporting and an investment into employee training and development.

John O’Conner Fun Day Raises Money for Sue Ryder Neurological Centre (Stagenhoe)

John O’Conner presented a cheque to Sue Ryder in support of Stagenhoe, the charity’s Neurological Centre in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, which provides care to people with long-term, progressive neurological conditions. Most of the 44 beds are for long stay residents, but respite care is also provided, to give families much needed breaks from care giving. The funds were raised from the John O’Conner Family Fun Day, which took place in September and included clay pigeons, face painting, a fun fair, a tug of war and a raffle.

Garden Makeover at Sue Ryder Hospice

A team of willing John O’Conner staff volunteers from our North Hertfordshire Contract, were joined by Directors and Head Office support staff, to help transform a neglected Sue Ryder wasteland into a functional outdoor space.  Once the project is completed, residents, staff and visitors of the Sue Ryder hospice in Stagenhoe near Hitchin, will have a peaceful outdoor garden and seating area in which to simply relax or meet with family and friends.

Work taster placements to help disadvantaged people in Hertfordshire

John O’Conner is to offer work taster placements in Hertfordshire, helping people with disabilities to find work commensurate with their skills and abilities.  The placements, run in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council’s Work Solutions team, aim to embed work experience and employment for vulnerable people from vulnerable groups, and especially those with learning difficulties.

Park staff act on St Albans troublemakers

Park rangers in St Albans have been given powers to help combat anti-social behaviour. The four John O’Conner employees were accredited by police during a ceremony on May 25th at Hertfordshire Constabulary headquarters in Welwyn Garden City.  They will now have the power to demand the name and address of anyone they see involved in anti-social behaviour. They can then pass this information on to police to help them further drive down these kinds of offences.

John O’Conner awarded 4 new contracts in Buckinghamshire

Wycombe District Council has collaborated with Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils to appoint John O’Conner to a new deal maintaining parks and open spaces in the area.  The contract began on 1 April and involves staff transferring from contractors including ISS Waterers and Verdant Group.  We extend a very warm welcome to all those who have joined us.  In addition, Buckinghamshire County Council has selected John O’Conner for a contract to maintain picnic sites and countryside walks that began on 1st April.  These contracts represent further significant strategic growth for John O’Conner, now providing grounds maintenance services to fifteen local authorities in the UK,

MD Matt O’Conner joins the ‘Pillocks on the Hillocks’

John O’Conner MD Matthew O’Conner, is part of a group of sixteen intrepid explorers, preparing to embark on a gruelling challenge in a bid to raise £10,000 for our chosen charity, Greenfingers.
