‘Greening Ryde’ Volunteer Initiative

Long neglected flower beds in Market Square, Ryde, temporarily replanted by volunteers last year, were finally given the required makeover through the efforts of volunteers and local organisations.

Three Tons of ‘homemade’ compost donated by the team from Osborne House and 50 bags of peat free top dressing was given by the Co-op. Pollinator friendly plants from ‘The Coastal Gardener’ sponsored by Ryde Town Council were also donated, along with bedding plants from landscape maintenance contractor, John O’Connor. The volunteers themselves brought along plants and provided the materials necessary for the transformation of this busy thoroughfare, between the car park and the square.

Whip Planting at Bricket Wood

In Bricket Wood, our team have been hard at work planting 500 Wips at Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School.

Last year, unfortunately a number of unprotected saplings were accidently cut down, meaning the hedge was unable to thrive. So, in order to replace these, we donated 500 replacement Wips and helped with the planting. Our operatives were also joined by a handful of primary school students.

The Wips will grow into a strong hedge along the school fence and will have a positive environmental impact for years to come. The hedge will give the school an environmental barrier from the busy traffic on Mount Pleasant Lane and reduce the impact of noise and car pollution.

The Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis

A message from our Managing Director, Matt O’Conner:

The Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis is a frightening situation that is getting worse by the day. We believe the best way to help is by supporting The Disaster and Emergencies Committee (DEC). The DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities, raising funds to quickly and effectively respond to overseas disasters. By donating to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, you’ll help DEC charities provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families. You can donate here: https://donation.dec.org.uk/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal

We’ve also had a number of our staff who have wanted to help in a more physical way.
