The pleasure of rewarding our long-servers
It’s always great to be able to reward hardworking staff whose loyalty over long periods of time has served our company so well.
As the company grows we really do want to continue to recognise staff and the value that they add to the business with their support and loyalty. This is why we have developed long service awards for employees who have been with us for 10 or even 20 year periods.
The only caveat we put down is that the reward can’t be in actual cash. This year’s long service vouchers have been for such things as plants, flowers, watches and gardens. One of our recipients has seen fit to donate the value of his vouchers to the ‘Help the Heroes’ charity, which I thought was a fantastic gesture.
This year we’ve had five recipients in all, as we did in the previous year. It was actually quite timely that Rob Irons from our North Herts contract donated his award to ‘Help the Heroes’ right at the time when we were all busy tidying up war memorials around the country in preparation for Remembrance day.
I was also really pleased to present our hard working Business Development Manager Darren Kilby with his 10 year award. Darren is such a key part of our team in the office and as he has recently moved into a new home, he opted to receive his award in the form of plants and shrubs for his garden.
If you’re reading this and you happen to be one of the John O’Conner employees up for long service recognition, I’d be really pleased to hear from you with ideas about what kind of award you might like.
Till next time,
Matt
