Training our trainers
Training has always been a big big part of improving quality and productivity at John O’Conner. I see the evidence of this investment every day in the excellence of the work all around our contracts. I also believe that when operatives are trained by their own colleagues, it becomes even more effective, which is why I was so pleased to see the continuation of our programme of ‘train the trainer’ courses this week.
We chose 5 experienced operators of groundscare machinery to attend the current course. These people, who have all shown an impressive desire to develop and pass on their knowledge, will be able to grow their instructional skills so that they will be able to run in-house operator training courses. The training also gives them the knowledge, skills and confidence to support the managers and supervisors who have already completed the course.
The course was run by Lely, a Greenkeepers Training Committee Quality Assured provider. Having seen the quality of their work at first hand, I know that this training will serve the needs of our business very well.
Having successfully completed the course and practical, it’s great to see our operatives, getting ready to present their own training courses for the teams they lead.
Till next time,
